Some photos from the last First Wednesday in Pleasanton-Dog Photography

Usually I post my pet photos on the you had me at woof photography® blog.  Today I felt like giving this blog some attention and showcase some of the pooches that showed up for the last First Wednesday event in downtown Pleasanton.  The theme for August First Wednesday is always the Dog Days Of Summer and there is an annual pooch parade.  Some like to dress up the dogs because they have prizes for the best costumes.  It’s like the Bay to Breakers for dogs except these dogs aren’t canine centipede teams (as far as I know) nor are they trotting down Main Street with a tiki bar or kegger on their backs.  Instead of normally displaying my work in my tent, I chose to photograph dogs.  Here are some that came by to visit and indulge.

First off, we have Maybelle.  She’s one of the cutest Pugs I have photographed and graced Diablo Magazine last year in their pet issue.  Looks like she has been eating some bon bons since I last saw her.  You and me both, sista.  We need to high tail it to the gym.  I don’t think she won the costume contest.  The skinny girls always beat out us curvy girls.

Then of course, there was the Aussie,  Ginger.  Apparently her owner claims she knows my name.  When she says  “Pam Biasotti” Ginger does this thing with her head and curls her lip like Elvis.  Then she smiles and says “hi”.  I have heard this on the phone, it’s true.  It’s a breathy “hi.”  She can also say “I love you”.  Why they haven’t gone to David Letterman for stupid pet tricks is a mystery to me.

Zoe.  A yellow Labrador.  We managed to get many smiles, many looks.

This one is just like the portraits you see college seniors pose for in the late 70’s, early 80’s.    There are probably chain studios that still offer this kind of pose for women.  Won’t name any names but their initials start with O and end with M.  Just sayin’.

Which brings me to these two.  I told them my Bulldog Shih Tzu joke which cracked up some Pugs and some Boxers in the past, but these two German Shepherds didn’t GET IT.  Maybe it’s a language thing.  Look at their reaction to the joke

So, I started talking about Hogan’s Heroes and they relaxed right up.  Total icebreaker.

Finally, going to show you a lovely Pit mix who had a marvelous time with me.  Don’t judge a Pit by it’s cover.   They can be delightful dogs.

Next First Wednesday is Wednesday, September 1.  I will see you there.  I won’t have my camera with me, but I will still make your dog glad she came by to see me.

Dog Days Of Summer–Pleasanton First Wednesday-Pam Biasotti Dog Photographer

August 5 is First Wednesday in Pleasanton.  The Pleasanton Downtown Association will be featuring the Dog Days Of Summer and this by far will be my favorite theme!  Last year I was laying in the street on my belly, shooting dogs in the parade as they walked past me.  This year, my booth will be in its usual spot, in between Murphy’s Paw and Tri-Valley Animal Emergency Care. Karma actually vistied TVAEC this week with a situation that woke me up at 4 am.  Maybe not a true emergency, but when you have a dog that has “issues” (it was like she was partying in Mexico and drank the water if you catch my drift) I considered it an emergency.

In addition to my usual display of prints, canvases and other artwork I will be setting up my back drop and photographing dogs that evening.  Stop by my booth and for a nominal fee you can purchase a portrait of your pet which I will take then and there.  Your print will be available to you the following week.  This is a $50 value.  Here are some examples of what we can capture with your lovely pooch if you stop by.  Think of the money you are saving–no session fee, a low cost print–this is a Pam Biasotti exclusive offer.  Also, if you stop by to have your pet’s portrait taken you will be entitled to $50 off a future session fee booking.

I recently returned from a quick trip to my old hometown, St. Louis.  I took my teenager along with me to see where I grew up and experience the difference between the Midwest versus the West.  We managed to catch the Cardinals beat the Dodgers, took in the St. Louis Zoo and made it to the top of the Gateway Arch.  I had a lot of great memories come back to me that weekend.  I also was able to hang out with two colleagues who are fantastic St.Louis and Chicago photographers.  Lauri Baker was doing a family session for Marianne Drenthe and I was just kind of along for the ride.  I took the goofy shots because that’s just what I do.

When I actually tried to be serious I occasionally would get this from Mare’s little sweetie Lauren.

Maddie was a little bit harder to capture.  Still digging and playing with photos of her.  You know what they say, photographer’s children are always the hardest to photograph.  Lauri was so hospitable. Thank you for all your generosity and for spending time with us.  And to the Drenthe family–you were all a joy to hang out with as well!

First Wednesday Pleasanton July 1 downtown sponsored by the Pleasanton Downtown Association

Halfway through the First Wednesday series.  This month the theme is Red, White, and Blues.  Come down and stop by to see me at my booth.  I will be having a free drawing for a complimentary photo session.  Also, if you stop by and book a session for July/August you will receive $50 off your session fee and a 2010 magnetic photo calendar with a photo from your session.

Should be a nice night for First Wednesday!  I am debating whether or not I should bring Karma down.  She has a cute festive Fourth of July collar I want to show off, but will I be able to entertain my puppy for 3 plus hours?  Please bring your dog or family by and say hi!  You can find out more about First Wednesday here.

My lovely little girl likes the flowers.  Here she is trying to eat one.

Pleasanton Downtown Association-pam biasotti event photography

The Pleasanton Downtown Association had its annual dinner the other night and I was asked to photograph the event.  What can be more fun than adding a photo booth to the cocktail hour?  I wanted to add some not so typical shots to cover the evening’s activities and I thank all the folks that particpated in the fun!  This photo booth is inspired by Nate and Jaclyn Kaiser’s Crazybooth, from the Image is Found.

You might just recognize some of these people…did you know they had a great sense of humor?

Photographers and their giant lenses.  What’s up with that?

Darn right you should be kissing your wife, sir!  Lovely couple.

Some were hesitant to be silly.  This man finally came around and let loose.

This next couple was adorable!!! The told me they are newlyweds!  Happy New Wedded Bliss!

Raffle tickets anyone?  There were lots of great prizes that night.
