I am always appreciative and happy when a previous client contacts me for a new session. A few years back I photographed their baby daughter and now they have a newborn son to add to the family. Baby K was a complete sweetheart.

Four generations of family. How wonderful it must feel to be a great-grandparent and see your grandchild having children!

Of course it wouldn’t be a blog post without adding sweet Ellie the Dalmatian into the spotlight! Thanks O Family, as always I loved photographing you all.

(SIGH). For those of you that are doing your last minute taxes, I wanted to spread some happy dust of cuteness.

Karma has half-siblings. Karma has cousins. Let’s call them Sousins. Jester is her daddy and Spice is her aunt–you do the logic. Right now they are 6 weeks old and full of energy. Most images here show them after an exhausting playdate with my youngest son and me. DISCLAIMER: do not look at these unless you want to smile for the rest of the day and sigh happily.

There are 2 girls and 5 boys from this litter. I wanted to sneak a few of them into my purse before I left.

It’s tempting, because I would love another Golden. Karma would probably love a playmate. My plate is too full right now. 2 dogs are a lot of hard work, especially since training them is a high priority.

These are a little large for this blog–sorry for the mis-alignment but I can’t not show these!

What can be better than a family of three which includes an adorable little girl and their loving Golden Retriever? It was a lovely day in Danville when I met up with these happy, fun-loving people. The Golden really really really really liked me…especially my leg. I forgave him because I know he can’t resist a dog lover like myself.

She’s one today! I have a complete post over at my You Had Me At Woof Photography® Photo Blog. She’s a tough subject but I love her all the same. We are now doing agility, obedience and rally–she’s a little working dog machine.

One would never know by this image that she was an agile, dutiful, obedient girl. But hey, it’s her birthday. Cut her some slack.

Good bye 2009! Don’t let the door hit you on the behind as you leave! I think 2010 is going to be a great year and a new start for many of us. I welcome the new decade with open arms. I have been quite busy since Thanksgiving and neglected my blogs. One of my favorite sessions in December was this adorable little baby boy from San Rafael. He has a classic name from literature that I love.

Before I showcase a few from today’s session, I thought I would take a trip down memory lane to October 17, 1989. Where were you? Like many others, I Ieft work early that day from Alameda. I was going north on Highway 680 in San Ramon/Dublin on my way home from work to hurry up and catch the World Series game. It was the Battle of the Bay–the A’s versus the Giants–and the entire San Francisco Bay Area was watching this series with interest. At 5:04 p.m I felt my car start rocking while I was doing probably 65-70 mph on the freeway and thought “Must be time for a wheel alignment”. As I exited the Alcosta ramp, there was a car stopped smack in the middle and a man was walking around his car as if he had a flat. He was blocking the entire exit and I swerved around him, flipping him off for hogging the road. What the H-LL was he doing? I turned right onto Alcosta Blvd and saw the traffic street lightd bouncing up and down. OH!!!! We just had an earthquake. I barely felt it going that fast on the freeway, but folks all over California felt it. 15 seconds and lives were dramatically changed. The Bay Bridge had a section collapse. The Cypress Structure collapsed and flattened like a pancake in parts, trapping and fatally taking many lives. The Marina was on fire. Santa Cruz had stores collapse in the mall area downtown. I raced inside our condo, and found fish tank water had sloshed out onto the carpet, but the fish were okay and still in the tank. Our two cats that didn’t get along both slept on our bed close to us that night because they were so scared. That was twenty years ago. Where were you?

At 5:04 today I was finishing a tween and teen’s session with their Labrodoodle, Rusty. I didn’t even realize it was 5:04 today when others all around the Bay Area were probably observing their moment of silence.

Rusty, you lighten my reflective mood. October 17, 1989 was a day we will never forget in the Bay Area.

This Saturday I will be at the annual San Jose Bark in the Park, downtown. Today He Would Have Been Ten

I almost didn’t remember it. Probably it’s a good thing since I have been caught up with school starting, sports, dog training with Karma and a failed NIC on my PC which has caused my wireless network to cease working. Thank goodness for Peets Coffee and free wifi. Dante looked up at me last night and said, “Mom, isn’t tomorrow the 31st? Isn’t it Riley’s birthday?” Yes. Yes it is. That kid has a memory like an elephant. Details. He’s a statistician. Ask him the box scores from last night’s A’s game and he will not only tell you what all the plays were in the inning, but he will tell you the number order of how the out was made. I have no idea what the numbers are for each spot but he sure does.

So, that’s a good thing that I didn’t get weepy and depressed this week thinking about Riley’s birthday, right? I can write about him now without mascara running down my face each time his name comes up. Don’t get me wrong–there’s tears in my eyes still–they just haven’t spilled all over my laptop. I guess that’s called healing.

This puppy is 2 months younger than my puppy Karma and huge. Well, actually he’s a normal Golden puppy and Karma is just smaller than your average female Golden. Skip was full of energy and no doubt that is because his two boys keep him on his toes–or should I say paws.

Managing to get the two brothers to not be climbing, running or playing was not easy. These kids amazed me with their skills. Especially climbing! Way way way up in the tree, on top of their play structure, standing on the roof of their playhouse–as a mom of two boys I thought my kids were active until I met these two adventurers.

Now here’s a sight for their parents’ eyes. ALL THREE TOGETHER not moving!
