This was done a while back and I am currently finishing a project for a musician named Rick Kurek. I have been a follower of his music since 2001 when he was the lead guitarist for a Celtic indie band called Brother. The summer of 2001 was a fabulous time seeing them perform throughout California while I was pregnant with my youngest. Rick went back to doing his own independent work a few years ago and I continued to enjoy his music. He even did a house concert at our home in 2004 with about 40 people in my backyard one September evening. We had such a great time even though the police were called around 8 pm because of the noise level! Rick was up visiting the Bay Area a few weeks ago and we did a little location shooting in the city. Some were natural light, some were shot with off camera flash (Vivatar 285) and a Wescott Apollo 28 x 28 softbox on a lightstand. Because Rick is an artist/musician I knew he would let me play with lighting and effects and go for some more dramatic looks. You can also hear some of his music on his myspace page.

Great captures!
That first one screams cd cover to me! Love the lighting in it and how he looks comfortable even amongst a pile of tires!
